How-To Guide

How to Set up a Book of Dead Spin

In short: A Book of Dead bet is three numbers multiplied together: the coin value, the coins staked per line and the number of active lines. At their stops those give a range from 0.01 to 100.00 a spin.

You control three steppers in this game, and two of them change what a win is worth rather than how often one arrives. Getting them the right way round is most of the skill available here.

Game:
Rich Wilde and the Book of Dead (a Play'n GO video slot)
Type:
Slot game
RTP as published:
Five configurations rather than one number: a default of 96.21%, plus 94.25%, 91.25%, 87.25% and 84.18%, with the operator choosing which one its lobby runs.
Max win:
The game states its ceiling in coins rather than as a multiplier: 250,000 coins.

Note: Book of Dead builds its stake from three separate numbers, and the settings panel is the only place all three appear together. Multiply the coin value by the coins per line by the active lines and you have the bet: 0.02 by 5 by 10 gives the 1.00 the demo opens with.

The limits sit at 0.01 and 100.00 a spin. We walked each stepper to its stop to confirm them, and Play'n GO's own rules document gives the same floor and ceiling.

What You Need Before You Start

Before you start, check these prerequisites; each one takes a minute and saves a wasted round.

How a Round Plays, Step by Step

Follow these steps in order; the index below jumps to any step, and each step names the control it uses.

  1. Step 1: Open the settings panel
  2. Step 2: Set the coin value first
  3. Step 3: Choose the coins per line
  4. Step 4: Leave the lines at ten
  5. Step 5: Read the bet back
  6. Step 6: Open the rules screen
  7. Step 7: Spin

Step 1: Open the Settings Panel

click the gear, or click straight into any field showing lines, coins or denomination.

Step 2: Set the Coin Value First

this is the real size control, running from 0.01 to 2.00. Everything else multiplies it.

Step 3: Choose the Coins per Line

one to five. Five is the default, and it multiplies every symbol payout on that line.

Step 4: Leave the Lines at Ten

the ceiling of 250,000 coins is only reachable across a full grid, and fewer lines shrink what the same ceiling is worth.

Step 5: Read the Bet Back

the status bar shows the total. Check it matches what you meant before the reels move.

Step 6: Open the Rules Screen

find the return figure for this particular build, because the studio ships five and your casino picked one.

Step 7: Spin

and if a win lands, decide on the gamble round before you touch anything else, since it is offered on that win only.

Tip: Cutting lines to save money is the expensive way to do it, because the coin ceiling is fixed and a smaller grid makes it worth less. Drop the coin value instead.

The gamble round doubles on colour at 50% and quadruples on suit at 25%, and it stops at 2,500 coins whatever you do.

Autoplay turns the gamble round off, so spin by hand on the rounds where you actually want the choice.

The free-spin symbol is drawn at random, so a cheap symbol can carry a whole feature. Ours drew the 10 twice out of twice.

Check the return before you deposit, not after. The spread between Play'n GO's best and worst build for this game is just over twelve points.

What Else Do Readers Ask?

The questions below are the ones that come up while the settings panel is open: what each stepper really changes, and which of them is worth touching. Every figure here comes from the client itself.

The ten symbol expanded across three reels of Book of Dead
This is the mechanic the whole game rests on. The 10 was drawn at random for the sequence, filled three reels, and paid 1,550 coins on the cheapest symbol in the table. Source: our own screenshot.
What is the minimum bet on Book of Dead?

0.01, reached with one line, one coin and the 0.01 coin value. The maximum is 100.00 at full settings.

Should you play all ten lines?

Yes, in most cases. The 250,000-coin ceiling needs a full grid, and cutting lines shrinks what that same ceiling is worth.

What does coins per line change?

Coins per line multiplies every symbol payout on that line. Scatter wins ignore the setting and multiply the total bet instead.

Can you turn autoplay off?

Yes, and you may want to. Autoplay disables the gamble round, which is offered only on a win in the main game.

Where do you find the return figure?

In the rules screen inside your own casino's client. Play'n GO ships five configurations and only the operator knows which is live.

How do we test the bet limits?

We open the free demo, walk each stepper to its stop, and compare what the panel allows against the studio's published rules document.
